Sonnet I
~ Refuge ~
When the night is come and my soul is free ~
Free from this earthbound flesh and mortal woe ~
I reach for love across the starry sea.
Where I travel, none but that love shall know.
I summon my craft of carven crystal,
Set my shining sails of silken silver,
Voyage to distant lands apocryphal ~
Avalon, Atlantis, Perelandra ~
I find my love in golden woodland glades,
By rocky mountain pools and bubbling streams,
In shady valleys as the sunlight fades,
The lonely places that abound in dreams.
But this is no dream that fades into dawn ~
It is my heaven for all those who mourn.
