Why would the Joint Chiefs of Staff appoint someone with no relevant qualifications or useful specialist knowledge to S.G.-1 in place of a highly qualified American who'd gone through the Proper Channels, as seen in Proving Ground?

Why would the Joint Chiefs of Staff appoint someone with no loyalty to his own planet to guard the security of ours?

Come to that, how did Quinn get security clearance to hang around the S.G.C. in the first place?

As plot devices go, is there anything lamer than giving a useless non-entity the ability to read weally, weally fast?

If the Joint Chiefs of Staff were happy to have another alien in S.G.-1, why didn't they appoint Nyan? He was a scientist and had spent two years working under Daniel's aegis. So no likelihood of his giving too much credence to Budge...

Season 6 - Specific Questions

Not so many of these as the total implausibility of Quinn's being in S.G.-1 in any capacity destroyed my ability to suspend my disbelief, so I only watched six eps. 8-(

When O'Neill opened up with his Big Gun and shouted, "Everybody down!" why didn't the ashrak duck too? [ Allegiance ]

Why did neither Carter nor Daniel realize that the purpose of an 'Imperial Probe Droid' is to collect information and send it back to its makers? [ Heroes l ]

Why wasn't Hammond court-martialled for sending his C.M.O. into a known combat zone in contravention of Standard Operating Procedure and with only an archaeologist for back-up? [ Heroes ll ]

Why didn't Fraiser countermand that illegal order? [ Heroes ll ]

Why wasn't Carter court-martialled for dereliction of duty, regardless of whether or not her actions caused or contributed to the death of Doctor Fraiser? [ Heroes ll ]

Season 8 - General Questions

How did an irreverent and insubordinate renegade like Jack O'Neill get promotion to brigadier-general? Come to that, how come he became a colonel in the first place?

Oh, actually I can answer the second part; he only had "one L and no sense of humor" back then...

How did Carter get promotion to lieutenant-colonel? She hadn't exactly covered herself in glory over the previous year...

Seasons 9 and 10

Why did they bother? T.W.I.C. had clearly lost interest in writing interesting sci-fi (as opposed to nauseating and implausible romance) scripts several seasons ago...

General Questions

Why kill off Martouf? He was a brilliant and much loved character.

Why kill off Robert Rothman? He was a useful and likeable character.

Why kill off Lieutenant Eliot/Lantash? He was a promising character, especially with the added knowledge he had of Martouf, Jolinar— and Carter...

Why kill off Janet? Why? Why? Why?! It makes no sense whatsoever!!!

Why kill off Jacob Carter/Selmak? He was a great favourite with the fans. Moreover, the blending with Selmak should have lasted going on a hundred years.
