A few
words of explanation
which kind of sum up the change in my conceptions of poetry.
When I was at school, and in my teens and twenties, I loathed
poetry with a purple passion. I was a tomboy, into science fiction, westerns
(Viva 'Firefly'!), adventure and crime fiction. Soppy romantic Mills & Boon
stories (Harlequin for Americans) just didn't cut it for me ~ and still don't.
I'm not that far gone!

Poetry is soppy.
Poetry is strictly for cissies.
Poetry is for wimps and women.
Poetry is for the weak
............................................in body
and mind.
